Consecrated 23rd May 1930
|
The Preceptory of St Alban was consecrated on 23rd May 1930 at Mark Masons' Hall by M.E. & Supreme Pro Grand Master, Major General T.C.P. Calley. The first Preceptor being V.E.Kt. Dr Charles Perram. Special Dispensation was granted during the 2nd World War to hold meetings at various venues in London until 1946 when the Preceptory returned to St Albans, meeting at Ashwell House where they have met ever since. One of the few, if not the only Preceptory where the word Preceptory comes before the name in the title, i.e. The Preceptory of St Alban (not St Alban Preceptory). The Preceptory's 75th Anniversary in May 2005 was celebrated by nearly 50 Knights.
